Summary
Waking up to the Pyramids of Giza is one of the great experiences of a trip to Egypt. These are the five hotels on the Giza side of Cairo that we book most, from the historic Mena House at the foot of the Great Pyramid to quiet resorts a short drive away. All of them can be part of a private trip with Top Class.
Marriott Mena House: The Historic Choice

Marriott Mena House is the closest hotel to the pyramids, set in about 40 acres of gardens right beside them. It began life in the 19th century as a royal hunting lodge, and its palace wing still keeps carved woodwork and mashrabiya details. It has a little over 300 rooms and suites, many with pyramid-view balconies, plus a kids’ pool and an executive lounge.
Best for: a once-in-a-lifetime stay with the Great Pyramid outside your window.
Le Méridien Pyramids: Rooms Facing the Plateau

Le Méridien Pyramids Hotel & Spa stands at El Remaya Square, at the edge of the Giza Plateau, with the Great Pyramid of Khufu about a kilometre away. Many rooms, suites and pool terraces look straight at the pyramids. It is a large hotel of more than 600 rooms, with a spa, sauna and steam room, a kids’ pool and a sushi and teppanyaki restaurant.
Best for: a pyramid view at a more moderate price than Mena House.
Steigenberger Pyramids: Next to the Grand Egyptian Museum

Steigenberger Pyramids Cairo is a mid-sized resort on the Alexandria Desert Road, between the pyramids and the new Grand Egyptian Museum, which is only a few minutes’ walk away. Its 130 or so rooms sit around two outdoor pools and palm gardens, and some suites look towards the pyramids.
Best for: travellers who want a full day at the Grand Egyptian Museum and a calm, resort-style stay.
Swiss Inn Pyramids Golf Resort: Quiet and Green

Swiss Inn Pyramids Golf Resort is a low-rise resort in the Dreamland compound in 6th of October City, next to the Dreamland golf course and a short drive from the pyramids. Its 184 rooms, around 34 m² each, are spread over two floors around gardens and an outdoor pool.
Best for: golfers and families who want space and quiet, with the pyramids a short drive away.

Giza Palace Hotel & Spa is a large resort in Sheikh Zayed City, on Cairo’s western edge, and a member of The Leading Hotels of the World. Its palace-style buildings wrap around a central pool and courtyards, with around 560 rooms and suites, a club lounge, a padel court and a shopping mall next door. It is further from the pyramids than the others, so plan on a drive to the plateau.
Best for: a self-contained luxury resort away from the city noise.
Near the Pyramids or in Central Cairo?
Staying in Giza puts you minutes from the pyramids, Saqqara and the Grand Egyptian Museum, and away from the traffic of central Cairo. Staying in the centre, by the Nile, is closer to the Egyptian Museum, Islamic and Coptic Cairo and Khan el-Khalili. Many of our guests do both: two nights by the pyramids, then a night or two in the centre. See our guide to luxury Cairo hotels and our Cairo and Giza tours.
