Explore the Uncharted Sahara & Hidden Oases with Expert VIP Service
Egypt’s Western Desert is a different country from the Nile Valley: salt lakes and palm groves at Siwa, the chalk formations of the White Desert, black volcanic hills and nights under more stars than most people have ever seen. Our desert trips are private, by 4×4 with an experienced desert driver and guide, and combine the desert with Cairo and, if you wish, the Nile.
| Trip | Length | Price per person |
|---|---|---|
| 6-Day Cairo, Alexandria and Siwa Oasis Adventure | 6 days | From $1,075 |
| 8-Day Cairo, Siwa and White & Black Desert Adventure | 8 days | From $1,390 |
| 10-Day Cairo, Nile Cruise & Siwa Oasis Adventure | 10 days | From $1,925 |
Lowest price per person sharing a double room; it varies with the season and the hotels you choose.
October to April. Days are pleasant, but desert nights in winter are cold, close to freezing in December and January, so warm clothes and a good sleeping bag matter. In summer the desert is too hot for comfortable travel.
Long drives on good roads, then off-road in 4×4 vehicles; simple camps with dinner cooked over a fire; and basic facilities in the remote areas. Siwa itself has comfortable eco-lodges. See our guide to the best time to visit Egypt for the season by region.
Yes, with an experienced desert team. Trips are run with local drivers who know the area, and the camps are in established spots.
No special fitness is needed. There are short walks on sand and rock, and most of the travel is by vehicle.
Bahariya, the gateway to the White Desert, is several hours by road from Cairo; Siwa is a long day’s drive, usually broken with a stop on the way.
Yes. Our ten-day trip combines Cairo, a Nile cruise and Siwa, and any desert trip can be extended.
