Nile cruises and day trips that stop at Kom Ombo
Kom Ombo Temple stands on a bend of the Nile 45 km north of Aswan. It is a double temple: one half belongs to the crocodile god Sobek and the other to Horus the Elder, with two entrances, two sanctuaries and a mirrored plan.
Nile cruises usually stop here in the late afternoon, when the temple is lit up at dusk and the light on the stone is at its best. If you travel by road from Aswan, the temple is often combined with Edfu in a single day.
See it on a Nile cruise or on our Edfu and Kom Ombo day tour.
It is dedicated to two gods, Sobek and Haroeris (Horus the Elder), so everything is duplicated along a central axis: two gateways, two halls and two sanctuaries.
About an hour is enough for the temple and the Crocodile Museum.
