Our Best Nile Cruise Ships
The ships and dahabiyas we book most, from boutique 5-star ships to small sailing boats.
Three Ways to Cruise the Nile
01
02Dahabiya
A small sailing boat with a few cabins. Quieter, slower and it moors at islands the big ships pass by.
03Lake Nasser cruise
Between Aswan and Abu Simbel, with temples you can only reach by water, seen without the crowds.
How to Choose the Best Nile Cruise
The best Nile cruise depends on who you travel with and how you like to travel. Here is how we match our guests with a ship. For day-by-day plans, see our Nile cruise itineraries.
Best Nile cruise for families
A 5-star ship with a pool and family cabins, on a short 3 or 4-night route. Children enjoy the sun deck between temple visits, and your guide keeps each visit short and lively.
Best Nile cruise for couples
A dahabiya or a boutique 5-star ship, with a suite and a balcony. Add a few nights at the Old Cataract in Aswan or on the Red Sea for a honeymoon.
Best Nile cruise for seniors
A larger 5-star ship with lifts or few stairs, a doctor on call and a calm pace. Your guide plans visits early or late in the day, away from the heat.
Best Nile cruise for solo travellers
A 4 or 5-night ship between Luxor and Aswan, where you share meals and visits with other guests, and your own guide at each site.

Questions About Nile Cruises
Everything you need to know before you travel
What is the best Nile cruise?
For most travellers, a 5-star ship between Luxor and Aswan for 3 or 4 nights. For more quiet and space, a dahabiya. For Abu Simbel without the crowds, a Lake Nasser cruise.
Luxor to Aswan or Aswan to Luxor?
Both see the same temples. Luxor to Aswan usually takes 4 nights and Aswan to Luxor 3 nights, so the second is shorter and often cheaper.
What is the difference between a cruise ship and a dahabiya?
A cruise ship has more cabins, a pool and more facilities. A dahabiya carries only a few guests, sails with the wind and stops at quiet islands and smaller temples.
What is the best time for a Nile cruise?
October to April. December and January are the busiest months, so book early.
Are the temple visits and guide included?
Yes. Each cruise lists its visits and entrance fees, and you have your own guide at each temple.
Are your prices per person?
Yes. Prices are in US dollars per person, sharing a double cabin, and include what each cruise lists. International flights are not included.
