Summary
A private tour of Egypt costs from about $615 per person for 5 days to around $4,000 for a two-week luxury trip, sharing a room. Most of our guests spend 8 to 10 days and pay between $1,400 and $2,500 each, with hotels, a Nile cruise, domestic flights, a private guide, transfers and entry tickets included. International flights, the visa, tips and personal spending come on top.
Prices are taken from our own Egypt tour packages in October 2026, per person sharing a double room. They change with the season and availability.
Egypt Trip Cost by Length
| Length | Typical route | Price per person |
|---|---|---|
| 5 days | Cairo and Luxor, or Cairo and Aswan | $615 – $1,450 |
| 7 days to 8 days | Cairo and a 3–4 night Nile cruise | $875 – $2,500 |
| 9 to 10 days | Cairo, Nile cruise, Abu Simbel, Red Sea or Alexandria | $1,150 – $3,250 |
| 12 to 15 days | The whole country: Cairo, Alexandria, the Nile, the Red Sea | $1,690 – $3,950 |
A useful rule of thumb: a comfortable private trip costs about $150–$250 per person per day, and a luxury trip $300–$450.
Standard, Deluxe or Luxury?
Most of our trips come in three or four levels. The itinerary, guide and sightseeing stay the same; what changes is where you sleep.
- Standard: good four-star hotels and a four- or five-star cruise ship.
- Deluxe: five-star hotels in better locations; usually about 15–30% more.
- Luxury and Elite: the best hotels in Egypt and luxury ships or a dahabiya; often 60–90% more than Standard. See our luxury Egypt tours.
Winter or Summer: How the Season Changes the Price
Winter (October to April) is high season, and our winter prices are usually about 8–20% higher than summer prices for the same trip. Christmas and New Year are the most expensive weeks of the year and are sold as special Christmas and New Year packages. Summer (May to September) is hot inland but the best value, and the best time for the Red Sea. See the best time to visit Egypt.

How to Make Your Budget Go Further
- Travel in summer or at the shoulder of the season (late April, May, September).
- Choose the Standard level: the guide and the sightseeing are the same.
- Fly between Cairo and Luxor or Aswan rather than spending a day on the road.
- Book early for December and January, when the best hotels and ships fill first.
- Ask us to adjust a package rather than building everything separately.
