Agiba Beach

Agiba Beach, whose name means "miracle" in Arabic, is widely considered one of the most beautiful beaches on Egypt's Mediterranean coast. Located near Marsa Matrouh on the North Coast, this small cove features dramatically turquoise water framed by sculpted white rock cliffs, creating a scene of extraordinary natural beauty that fully justifies its name.

The Setting

The beach is set within a natural cove accessible by descending carved stone steps through the cliff face. The crystal-clear water shifts between shades of turquoise, emerald, and sapphire depending on the light and depth, while the surrounding white limestone cliffs have been sculpted by wind and waves into dramatic formations. The combination of colors and rock formations creates a landscape more reminiscent of the Greek islands than the typical Egyptian coast.

Visiting

Agiba Beach is best visited from June to September when the water is warmest. The beach is small and can become crowded during Egyptian holidays, so early morning visits are recommended. The wider Marsa Matrouh area features several other beautiful beaches and is easily combined with a visit to the nearby Cleopatra Beach, where legend says the famous queen once swam.
