Originally built as a place of worship for Amun, Khonsu, and Mut, this religious site is renowned not only for its vast size but also for its intricate details.

Luxor Temple by Night

Luxor Temple by Night

In the heart of the city of Luxor, you will find the Luxor Temple, built by Amenhotep III and Ramses II. Alexander the Great also built a chapel for the ancient Egyptian gods. In those times, the ancient Egyptians celebrated the most important festival in Thebes here, the Opet Festival. In 1989, archaeologists accidentally discovered an underground chamber with very well-preserved statues, now exhibited in the Luxor Museum. At the Luxor Temple, you can see part of the Sphinx Avenue, which once connected the Luxor Temple to the Karnak Temple.

After the tour, the first day in Luxor concludes, and you will be taken back to your Dahabeya.

Enjoy your dinner and the first-class service on board in a comfortable atmosphere, looking forward to the program for the next days.

Tip of the day: In the evening, you have the opportunity to experience the fascinating sound and light show at the Karnak Temple. (optional)

After a cozy breakfast on board, you will travel with your tour guide to Thebes-West. The first highlight of the day awaits you:

Valley of the Kings

Valley of the Kings

The Valley of the Kings serves as a portal to paradise and was the final resting place for some of Egypt’s most illustrious Pharaohs between 1570 and 1070 BC. This sacred site houses the tombs of revered rulers such as Ramses II, Hatshepsut, Amenhotep I, and Tutankhamun. Within its 63 tombs lie remarkable statues, artifacts, treasures, and intricate decorations. In 1979, the Valley of the Kings earned UNESCO World Heritage status.

We leave this unique valley and its magical atmosphere and move to another enchanting place:

Hatshepsut Temple

Hatshepsut Temple

The mortuary temple of Queen Hatshepsut dates back to the 18th Dynasty, 1470 BC. She had her impressive terraced temple built by the architect Senenmut. She was always depicted as a man, as clearly seen in the well-preserved statues in the temple. In Christian times, a monastery was built on the temple, which was used until the 11th century. In the 19th century, the monastery ruins were dismantled.

Enjoy the view from the temple’s terraces overlooking Luxor and the Nile Valley, then continue the journey with a stop. You will visit:

Colossi of Memnon

Colossi of Memnon

The Memnon Colossi are two adjacent ancient Egyptian colossal statues, approximately 18 meters high, dating from the 14th century BC. Both statues represent Amenhotep III and were located at the entrance of his temple.

After the last point on the program, you will be accompanied back to your Dahabeya ship. After lunch on board, the Dahabeya sets sail towards the lock city of Esna.

Tip of the Day: Today, you have the option to experience a hot air balloon ride at sunrise over Thebes West for a unique view of Luxor’s ancient treasures. (optional)

On this day, you will begin your morning by enjoying your breakfast then you go by horse and carriage to the Temples of Kom Ombo and Edfu where you will meet your Egyptologist Tour Guide:

Edfu Temple

Edfu Temple

A majestic Temple dedicated to the Horus Edfu Temple is considered by most to be the best-preserved cult Temple in Egypt. According to the Egyptian myths, the Temple was believed to be the place where Horus the falcon-headed God revenged the murder of Osiris his Father by killing Seth.

Continue the journey to El Ramady Island, where the Dahabeya docks for dinner and overnight stay.

Enjoy breakfast while sailing along the Nile to Kom Ombo. In the afternoon, explore:

Kom Ombo Temple

Kom Ombo Temple

The Temple of Kom Ombo is a unique ancient site that stands on a hill overlooking the Nile river. Unlike other temples, it has two entrances and two sets of halls, courts, and sanctuaries. This is because it was dedicated to two gods: Horus, the falcon-headed god of the sky, and Sobek, the crocodile-headed god of fertility and creation. The temple also reflects the importance of sugar cane cultivation in the region, as it contains a well-preserved Nilometer that was used to measure the water level and predict the harvest.

After the temple visit, sail to Sheikh Fadel Island.

As you savor a delicious breakfast on your Nile Cruise, you will have the opportunity to explore the amazing sights of Aswan with your expert Egyptologist Tour Guide. You will discover the rich history and culture of this ancient city, as you visit some of its most famous attractions, such as:

Philae Temple

Next, visit the imposing High Dam, which impounds the Nile to Lake Nasser, with both positive and negative effects.

The High Dam

The High Dam

Aswan High Dam is a captivating engineering feat that is listed as the most remarkable project that belongs to the ruling period of President Gamal Abdul Nasser.
