Montazah Palace & Gardens

The Montazah Palace complex is a stunning royal estate overlooking the Mediterranean Sea in eastern Alexandria. The grounds span over 150 acres of beautifully manicured gardens featuring royal palms, pine trees, and colorful flowers, along with pristine beaches and a picturesque bay. Built by Khedive Abbas II in 1892 as a summer residence, the complex includes two palaces in distinct architectural styles.

The Palaces

The Al-Haramlik Palace, built in a Florentine and Ottoman fusion style, now serves as a luxury hotel, while the larger Salamlek Palace, rebuilt by King Fuad I in the 1930s, is also a hotel. Though the palace interiors are generally not open for public tours, the stunning gardens and beaches are accessible to visitors and provide one of the most beautiful seaside experiences in Alexandria.

Gardens & Beach

The gardens are perfect for a leisurely stroll, with winding pathways, ornamental bridges, and a small harbor. The Montazah beach is considered one of the finest in Alexandria, with crystal-clear waters and a protected bay. The combination of royal architecture, lush gardens, and Mediterranean coastline makes Montazah a highlight of any Alexandria visit.
