Tour Itinerary

For your Easter 2024 Egypt tour of Cairo, Nile cruise, and beach vacation, fly to Cairo today. Upon arrival at Cairo Airport, our tour guide will warmly welcome you and assist with entry and visa formalities. During the transfer to your 5-star hotel, you’ll get a first glimpse of the vibrant life of this bustling metropolis, the largest city in Africa. After arriving at the hotel, your tour guide will help you check in, and the rest of the day is at your leisure.

This day starts with a visit to Cairo’s greatest highlight – after breakfast, you’ll journey with your tour guide to the legendary:

Pyramids of Giza

Pyramids of Giza

The three famous Pyramids of Giza are the last remaining wonder of the ancient world, built around 2600 BCE on a large limestone plateau.

The Great Pyramid of Cheops is the oldest and largest of the three pyramids, known as the “Great Pyramid.” Standing at 147 meters, it was constructed as a tomb for the Egyptian King Cheops.

After admiring the Great Pyramid, you’ll explore the Pyramid of Chephren and the Pyramid of Mykerinos. Following that, you’ll head to a plateau offering a beautiful panoramic view of the three Pyramids of Giza.

The Sphinx

The Sphinx

With the body of a lion and the head of a man, the Sphinx lies in front of the Pyramid of Chephren, measuring approximately 73 meters in length and 20 meters in height.

After exploring the pyramids and the Sphinx, enjoy an oriental lunch at a local restaurant. The afternoon takes you to the heart of Cairo, where you’ll visit the impressive:

Egyptian Museum

Egyptian Museum

Opened to visitors in 1902, the Egyptian Museum in Cairo is the world’s largest museum of ancient Egyptian treasures. It houses a unique collection spanning 5000 years of Egyptian history, including the famous golden treasures of Tutankhamun. If interested, you can also visit the mummy room, where, among others, Ramses II’s mummy lies.

After the final tour and detailed explanations from your guide, you’ll be taken back to your hotel.

Today marks the end of your stay in the immortal city of Cairo. You’ll be transferred to Cairo Airport and fly to your next destination on this Egypt tour: Aswan.

Upon arrival at Aswan Airport, your guide will welcome you, and your first visit will be to the enchanting:

Philae Temple

Philae Temple

The Philae Temple, dedicated to Isis, was originally located on Philae Island south of Aswan. After the construction of the High Dam, the temple was relocated to the nearby Agilika Island from 1977 to 1980. In 553 AD, the temple was converted into a church, leading to significant damage to its reliefs.

Next, you’ll visit the impressive dam that creates Lake Nasser, reflecting both positive and negative impacts of its construction.

The High Dam

The High Dam

Initiated by President Nasser and built from 1960 to 1971, the High Dam created one of the world’s largest reservoirs, 500 km long and 32 km wide at its widest point. The dam spans over 3800 meters in length, 111 meters in height, with a base width of about 980 meters and a crown width of approximately 40 meters.

After your program in Aswan, you’ll be transferred to your Nile cruise ship for boarding.

Note:

A qualified Egyptologist, your tour guide, will be with you on board and lead the sightseeing tours during your Nile cruise in Egypt.

As you embark on your Nile cruise ship, you will experience the beauty of Upper Egypt at night. The sky is filled with stars that illuminate the ancient land. You can look forward to exploring the rich history and culture of this region in the following days.

In the early morning, the ship sets sail towards Kom Ombo and sails downstream. After a hearty breakfast on board, you’ll visit the magnificent temple:

Kom Ombo Temple

Kom Ombo Temple

It’s the only double temple in Egypt dedicated to the crocodile god Sobek and the falcon god Horus. The temple ruins were buried under sand for a long time until they were uncovered and restored in 1893. Built during the Greco-Roman period from 304 to 31 BCE, the temple was surrounded by hundreds of mummified crocodiles.

After the Kom Ombo Temple, your enchanting journey continues as the ship sails towards Edfu. In the afternoon, you’ll visit one of the best-preserved temples in Egypt:

Edfu Temple

Edfu Temple

Built by the Ptolemies for the falcon god Horus Behdeti from 237 to 57 BCE. Until 1860 AD, the temple remained buried under sand and Nile mud until it was excavated by the Frenchman Mariette. The temple annually celebrated the marriage of Horus of Edfu to Hathor of Dendara and the victory of Horus over Seth.

After visiting the Edfu Temple, the ship continues from Edfu through the Esna lock towards Luxor, the ancient Thebes. Relax on the sundeck, reflecting on your experiences as the breathtaking Nile landscape passes by.

After breakfast on board, you’ll travel with your guide to Thebes-West. The first highlight of the day is:

The Valley of the Kings

The Valley of the Kings

Be enchanted by the over 3000-year-old, magnificent wall paintings in the tombs of the Pharaohs. So far, 64 tombs have been found in the Valley of the Kings, and you’ll have the opportunity to explore three of them. The Valley contains the tombs of the New Kingdom Pharaohs (approximately 1550 to 1069 BCE, 18th to 20th Dynasty). In 1922, Englishman Howard Carter discovered the tomb of Tutankhamun with its golden treasures.

Leaving this unique valley and its magical atmosphere, you’ll head to another enchanting location:

The Hatshepsut Temple

The Hatshepsut Temple

The Mortuary Temple of Queen Hatshepsut dates back to the 18th Dynasty, 1470 BCE. She had her impressive terraced temple constructed by the architect Senenmut. Represented as a man in statues, as clearly seen in the well-preserved statues in the temple, Queen Hatshepsut’s temple later became a monastery in Christian times, lasting until the 11th century. The monastery ruins were dismantled in the 19th century.

Enjoy the view from the temple’s terraces overlooking Luxor and the Nile Valley. The journey continues with a visit to:

The Colossi of Memnon

The Colossi of Memnon

The Memnon Colossi are two adjacent colossal statues from the 14th century BCE, approximately 18 meters high. Both statues represent Amenhotep III and were situated at the entrance of his temple.

To conclude the day, visit the magnificent:

Karnak Temple

Karnak Temple

It is the largest temple complex ever built, dedicated to the holy family of Thebes, Amun-Re, his wife Mut, and son Chonsu. The temple’s construction spanned over 2000 years, with the significant Hypostyle Hall featuring 134 papyrus columns, built by Seti and completed by Ramses II.

After the final tour, the day ends in Luxor, concluding your Nile cruise. A private transfer takes you to your hotel for a relaxing beach vacation at the Red Sea.

Tip of the Day: Today, you have the option to enjoy a hot air balloon ride at sunrise over Thebes-West, offering a unique view of Luxor’s ancient treasures. (optional)

Enjoy the warm sun, the clear water and the soft sand as you unwind and recharge your batteries. But that’s not all! You can also spice up your vacation with some exciting excursions, such as a snorkeling day trip to explore the colorful coral reefs and marine life, or a desert safari adventure to experience the thrill of riding a quad bike or a camel in the vast sand dunes. Don’t miss this opportunity to have the best of both worlds: relaxation and adventure!

Today, it’s unfortunately time to say goodbye! You’ll be transferred from your hotel to Hurghada Airport for your flight back home.
