Pyramids of Giza

Pyramids of Giza

The three famous Pyramids of Giza are the last surviving wonder of the ancient world, built around 2600 BC on a large limestone plateau. The Great Pyramid of Cheops is the oldest and largest of the three pyramids, standing at 147 meters tall. It was built as a tomb for the Egyptian King Cheops. We will first admire this largest pyramid, followed by the Pyramid of Chephren and the Pyramid of Mykerinos.

Afterward, we head to a plateau offering a beautiful panoramic view of the three Pyramids of Giza.

The Sphinx

The Sphinx

The Sphinx has the body of a lion and the head of a man, measuring approximately 73 meters in length and 20 meters in height, situated in front of the Pyramid of Chephren.

Following the exploration of the Pyramids and the Sphinx, enjoy an oriental lunch at a local restaurant. Strengthened, you proceed to your next destination, the Necropolis of:

Saqqara

Saqqara

Saqqara is one of the oldest and largest cemeteries in Egypt, where you can see the first pyramid in Egypt, the Step Pyramid of King Djoser from the 3rd Dynasty around 2650 BC. It consists of six steps and stands 62 meters high. This pyramid marked the beginning of the first phase of pyramid construction in Egypt. Although initially planned as a square mastaba by Imhotep, it has recently become possible to visit the Step Pyramid from the inside.

You can also admire the beautiful tombs from the Old Kingdom with their special paintings.

After the last highlight of this eventful day, you will be taken back to your hotel.

Today’s morning is dedicated to the Pharaohs. After breakfast at the hotel, you will be picked up to visit the impressive:

Egyptian Museum

Opened in 1902, the Egyptian Museum in Cairo is the world’s largest museum of ancient Egyptian treasures. It houses a unique collection of artifacts spanning 5000 years of Egyptian history. Particularly impressive are the famous golden treasures of Tutankhamun.

After the museum, you get an insight into Cairo’s Islamic culture by visiting the majestic:

Saladin's Citadel

Saladin's Citadel

The Citadel of Saladin is one of the few remaining fortified structures in Cairo. Built between 1176 and 1183 AD by Saladin, it aimed to better defend the city against the Crusaders. From the Citadel, situated on a small hill, you enjoy a magnificent view of the capital. This medieval relic from the time of the Crusaders will leave you in awe.

Inside Saladin’s Citadel is one of the city’s most beautiful structures:

The Alabaster Mosque of Muhammad Ali
